To really Master Your Mind you need to know where to start. In this session, we want to help you identify areas of your life that might need more attention than others. Here is the exercise.
Write out up to 10 general areas of your life. No need to be specific yet, this should be done quickly. You can use things like physical health, relationships, career goals, organization, safety, or any broad area of life.
After you finish writing them out, go back next to them and grade yourself in each area on a scale from 1-10. 10 being you are excellent in that area and need no improvement. This allows you to see areas in your life where you are strong and areas where you could use some improvement. Be honest with yourself, you’re only doing this for you. This is to help find the areas of your life that you can make the most IMPACT.
Now that you know where to make improvements it’s time to take action. The next step is to complete what we call a 1-in-30. Starting with your lowest graded area of life, write down 1 goal towards improvement. Then spend the next 30 days working on that one goal. The aim is to make that new goal aHABIT. Once you complete your first 1-in-30, now go to your next area and work on that for the next 30 days. If you can slowly and incrementally make improvements to your scores above, you will be amazed by what will happen!
We have confidence in this method because when you write down a goal on paper and declare it as a goal, you’re more likely to accomplish it. It’s like the old saying: Show me your calendar, and I’ll show you your priorities.” This is how you make a positive IMPACT on your life!
So what happens if you don’t achieve your goals? The answer is nothing. Don’t feel guilty about it. Don’t feel bad about it. Do what you can and make small incremental changes.
