Let’s be honest, taking care of our long term health isn't a macho idea. I mean, we want to look and feel good now, not spend time caring for and thinking ahead into our 70’s, 80’s and beyond – meh, not all that great to think about.
But ask yourself this, have you ever woke up sore from head to toe, with achy inflamed joints, and nagging pain? Have you ever had to sit on the proverbial sidelines of life while you nursed along an injury? Or tried to come back after months of fighting off colds and tried to get your life and energy back on track? I’m guessing you’ve been there.
Now, imagine that was your life every day. You wake up feeling that way daily as you try to enter the later years of life gracefully. This can be especially true for those who are living it up now. Maybe your long hours on the job, heavy lifting, raising and trying to keep up with kids, or old injuries from your high school and college days of sports are taking a toll on you physically.
Regardless of how we enjoy life now, or have in our past, thinking ahead as we age is in our best interest.
There are several things that you can do now to help ease the process of aging, some may be easier to do than others, but they’re all worth the effort for a long, happy, and healthy life.
#1 Keep your body moving.
Get 30 minutes of activity three days a week, every damn week. Keeping up on your cardio and preserving muscle with weight training as we age will keep us feeling young, mobile, and supporting our joints.
#2 Incorporate healthy, vibrant foods into your nutrition regimen.
Focus on trying new things, getting lots of colorful vegetables, and splurging on new exotic fruits every once in awhile. Instead of focusing on having a ‘perfect’ diet, make the shift to getting a wide variety of healthy foods in the majority of your meals.
#3 Challenge yourself to do something new.
It’s easy to get stuck in the same routine and turn into a hermit as we age. Get into the habit now of trying new things, seeing new places, and having first time experiences. And if you aren’t the kind to step out on a limb solo, recruit a buddy to share the tradition with you.
#4 (and this is a must) Take your heart and joint supplements.
Starting now. There are two things I consider to be a must when it comes to supplementation. A good quality fish oil like the Omega-3 Fish Oil, and a joint supporting supplement like Joint Advantage. These two are a helping hand in keeping your brain, heart, joints, and bodies strong as we age.
The bottom line is you're never going to be getting younger, and that’s ok! There’s a lot of life to enjoy and there is no reason that your best years can't be ahead of you. You may not keep up with the young bucks, understand the latest fashions, or have lean muscle mass into your 60’s, 70’s, or 80’s, but you can start working now to feel your best in the decades to come.
We know how easy it can be to get off track and let months or years go by without thinking about our future health. Trust us, we hear it all the time. Make a point to do a self check-in at the end of every month to see how you are feeling. You don't need to step on the scale or measure BMI, just ask yourself one simple question. Am I doing enough now to feel healthy leater? And don't lie to yourself.
Oh yeah, and start taking Omega-3 Fish Oil, and Joint Advantagetoday. You may not feel all the benefits now, but I promise you, you’ll be thanking us when your 75.
Give your body what it needs now and enjoy your life at every age.
