PSA

Heat illness and dehydration are serious medical situations. If you or someone around you is suffering from moderate to severe dehydration or heat illness, do not wait to seek medical intervention. Rescue Hydration is not a replacement for IV fluids, which can be life-saving.

HANGOVER SOLUTION

THE UNINTENDED BUT INTENDED USE

One of the intended side benefits of Rescue Hydration is its ability to suppress or eliminate the effects of having a bit too much alcohol–commonly known as a hangover.*

One of the main culprits behind the misery of a bad hangover is dehydration. The rapid introduction of fluids to the cells via active transport immediately helps to suppress those miserable hangover symptoms.*

This flooding of nutrients into the body after “one too many” the night before also helps to eliminate the toxic byproduct of ethanol metabolism, acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde is responsible for inflammation in the liver, pancreas, brain, gastrointestinal tract, and other organs.*

While we don't condone the overconsumption of alcohol, we do condone the consumption of a Hydrate & Recover® and Rescue Hydration combo after the fact.*

We speak from experience.

Feel Better. Faster.

BY THE WAY OF ACTIVE TRANSPORT

Active transport is the body’s way of speeding up the rehydrating of cells by forcing more fluid to be absorbed faster and earlier in the digestive tract.

This is achieved by the precise balance of glucose, sodium, and potassiumin the combination of Hydrate & Recover® and Resuce Hydration, which is responsible for this cellular flooding effect.*

Coconut Water Powder

Coconut water powder is added as a natural source of potassium, sodium, and magnesium.

These crucial electrolytes keep fluid levels and pH in proper balance throughout the body. These minerals are also notable for their involvement in energy production. In maintaining proper balance of electrolytes, coconut water aids in boosting hydration.

Lastly, coconut water powder is an antioxidant and protects tissues from oxidative damage during times of stress.*

Aloe Vera Gel Powder

Aloe vera gel powder is added for its ability to soothe the stomach and limit nausea. Upset stomach is a symptom of dehydration as well as a bad case of the “bar flu.”

Aloe vera gel should not be confused with aloe vera latex which would have undesirable effects on the gastrointestinal tract during times of dehydration, such as increasing bowel movement.*

L-Glutamine

It serves as an energy source for the brain, reduces stomach distress, and is incorporated into thousands of body proteins and enzymes.

Its inclusion in the Rescue Hydration formula is specifically for the positive effects that it has on fueling the absorption of water and sodium in the gut, maintaining the barrier function of the intestines (preventing toxins, microorganisms, and undigested food particles from crossing over into the bloodstream), and possibly alleviating diarrhea.*

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B, (pyridoxine) has been shown to reduce the symptoms of hangovers by 50%(1). In coordination with rehydration, pyridoxine is one of the best interventions for the “bar flu” condition.*

Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin is an antioxidant that protects the brain from toxic substances that are potentially formed during dehydration, and it may also reduce symptoms of nausea often associated with mild to moderate dehydration and alcohol hangovers.*

Research indicates Astaxanthin aids in your body’s resistance to fatigue and heat stress. Click the link below to see the research done by our very own Science, Research and Formulations Board member.*

DEHYDRATION SHOULD BE PREVENTED

Studies show that after suffering from moderate to severe dehydration and heat illness it becomes easier and easier for it to happen again.

So, if you're looking at a situation with a high likelihood of harsh temperature conditions and/or extreme physically demanding work, preventative measures should be taken.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS RESCUE HYDRATION & HOW DO I USE IT?

First off, Rescue Hydration is formulated to be combined with Hydrate & Recover®, not consumed in place of it. It is specifically formulated to boost the speed and efficiency with which the body replenishes its fluids. Simply put, it turns Hydrate & Recover® into an intensive and more robust rehydration formula.*

This isn’t an everyday type of rehydration formula, which is still the perfect job for Hydrate & Recover®. This is for instances of extreme conditions that can easily lead to or have already caused dehydration and/or heat illness.*

WHAT IS HYDRATE & RECOVER USED FOR?

Think about Hydrate & Recover® as your way to maintain proper fluid and electrolyte levels. It keeps your body’s electrolytes balanced, energy levels up, helps with muscle recovery, and keeps your brain running at full speed.*

You will still use this the same way you always have–during normal physical activity, before or after a normal workout or, like most of us, at least once a day, no matter what. H&R is still the ideal everyday hydration formula.*

WHAT IS RESCUE HYDRATION USED FOR?

As the name insinuates, it’s designed for instances where symptoms of mild to moderate dehydration are starting to show, and action to help rehydrate the body should be taken. In this instance, the body needs something that is more pronounced in its effect and ability to help correct course by getting fluids and electrolytes into the body faster.*

This process is known as active transport, which, in technical terms, is the energy-dependent movement of molecules (in this case, water and electrolytes) into cells, going against a concentration gradient. That is, the molecules are moved from a region of lower concentration into a region of higher concentration. In simpler terms, active transport is the body’s way of speeding up the rehydrating of cells by forcing more fluid to be absorbed both earlier and more quickly in the digestive tract. This is partly achieved by the inclusion of glucose in the formula which is responsible for this cellular flooding effect.*

When someone is suffering from dehydration and heat illness, the Hydrate and Rescue combination provides an acute hydration formula to instantly take action and immediately start to correct the effects of a dehydrated state.*

CAN I DRINK IT BEFORE I GET DEHYDRATED?

There is also a preventative side to Rescue Hydration. If you are expecting to perform above-average physical activity in high-heat situations where dehydration is likely to happen, a Hydrate and Rescue combo in advance can help prepare your body to perform.*

Here is our PSA: Dehydration should be prevented at all costs–studies show that after suffering from moderate to severe dehydration and heat illness it becomes easier and easier for it to happen again. So, if you're looking at a situation with a high likelihood of harsh temperature conditions and/or extreme physically demanding work, preventative measures should be taken.*

WHAT'S IN IT?

While some of the ingredients in Rescue Hydration can also be found in Hydrate & Recover®, it’s not an overlap in formula, but an additional amount of each electrolyte–sodium (citrate & chloride) and potassium (chloride). There are also some unique ingredients in Rescue Hydration that were specifically chosen for their effects on different symptoms that can be experienced during dehydration and/or heat illness.*
